Two Sisters Food Group, supplier of M&S, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, etc, sacked 59 Unite the Union members for standing up to racist comments from the firms security guard towards a Unite Shop Steward.
Jack Dromey, Deputy Secretary of Unite the Union and Gerard Coyne, Secretary of West Midlands Unite the Union led the protest along with hundreds of campaigners for the sacked workers outside Marks & Spencers at High St, Birmingham for M&S to intervene and pressurise their supplier to re-instate the sacked workers and tackle racism on the shop floors.
Joe Clarke, Regional Industrial Organiser for the Unite Branch at Two Sisters has been a fantastic leader and representative during this tough period of time. Most of the sacked work-force have only ever worked at 2 Sisters since beginning employment in this country and have been loyal workers for the company. Many have low skills and would find it very difficult to gain employment elsewhere.
