Birmingham Hosts Olympic Torch
I spent Saturday afternoon and evening in Cannon Hill Park witnessing history being made – Birmingham hosting the Olympic Torch.
The fantastic day of entertainment was topped off by the Olympic flame arriving at 8pm. The estimated 20,000 that had been lucky enough to obtain a ticket for the event cheered as a local charity worker carried the torch onto the stage after receiving it from Sir Cliff Richard outside the park.
Pop group ‘The Wanted’ were the headline performers and entertained thousands. A number of other performers also kept the crowds entertained.
Being there at Cannon Hill Park on this historical occasion was quite an emotional moment. I am looking forward to the Olympics like thousands of others!
